An irresistible church is “an authentic community built on the hope of Christ that compels people affected by disability to fully belong.” On this blog, we talk a lot about how to create this kind of community. It takes open hearts, an attitude of acceptance, and practical support. Today we’d like to talk about practical support in the form of making our churches physically accessible for our friends with disabilities.
Having facilities that are accessible speaks volumes to families affected by disability, telling them that we value them and that we want them to participate in the life of the body. Below is a quick reference guide for churches looking to make their facilities more accessible. There are certainly many other things to consider, but this is a great place to start!
